Social housing not only needs to feel like home, but it also needs to deliver in terms of budget and environmental concerns. The Hopefield Yard development is made up of ten two-bed, semi-detached homes and six one-bed cottage flats. We were tasked with the design and build of these low-rise residential units, including delivering the associated infrastructure and external works.

Sustainability was a key aspect of this project, both in terms of the Council’s net zero commitment and to help keep running costs down for tenants. The project included a wide range of sustainable technology to help achieve this, including air source heat pumps, triple glazing, EV charging points, and solar PV. To reduce the carbon impact of the build itself, elements such as timber frames manufactured off-site were used.

Design and planning • Construction • Infrastructure • Incorporating and installing sustainable technology • Site remediation

The project was delivered to Net Zero Carbon Standards – a first for the Council. We also devised and delivered an extensive and complex site remediation package, which was developed to ensure that the job was fully completed within the client’s budget. We not only achieved this, but we delivered cost savings of over £800k to the client.
