As Principal Contractor for a leading financial services organisation, we have carried out a wide range of mechanical and electrical works across their estate.

This Data Centre Chiller Replacement Project entailed the installation of highly efficient critical cooling to a live data hall environment, a critical facility where no services downtime is allowed as this would affect the operations of the data centre.

Our team delivered a complex and ambitious plan for the data halls to be supported by their own state-of-the-art, energy efficient cooling system.

The scope of works included, the formation of a new plant compound; installation of new HV/LW external package substations to support new equipment; removal and replacement of the existing UPS with the new 5x100kVa system during phased critical programme in “live” environment to service new critical plant items; installation of 3No. 700kw high efficiency chillers; installation of 2No. hybrid coolers to maximise efficiency; installation of new primary pipework; installation of new secondary pipework in “live” existing area; phase changeover of system; removal of existing chillers, and removal of existing pipework throughout the “live” area.

This project was part of the wider strategy to optimise energy efficiency, significantly reducing carbon footprint across the client’s estate, and to improve resilience of their data centre systems.
