Social Value Week 2026: Creating Lasting Social Value Across Our Communities

For this year’s Social Value Week, our teams from across the Morris & Spottiswood Group and supply chain partners participated in practical community volunteering, helping improve community spaces, support families and strengthen local charities across the UK. From refreshing youth centers and community spaces to improving outdoor areas, this week shows our social value commitment in action.

At Morris & Spottiswood Group, creating environments where people can thrive is at the heart of what we do. That commitment reaches beyond the projects we deliver for our clients and into the communities where our people live, work and make a difference.

334 hours volunteered. 1880 beneficiaries supported. Communities across the UK strengthened.

Watch the highlights from Social Value Week 2026 below.

One Group. One Team. One shared purpose.

Across the UK, our teams responded to the individual needs of local organisations, contributing their time, energy and practical skills to help improve important community facilities and spaces.

Supporting young people

In London, our support for Soapbox Islington focused on repainting internal areas within its community youth centre. The charity supports disadvantaged young people by providing media production training.

In Warrington, volunteers supported Newton-le-Willows Boys & Girls Club with gardening and maintenance around its building, painting internal rooms and improvements to external fencing.

Teams also worked with Cromwell Scouts in Huntingdon, contributing to gardening and external maintenance activities.

In Bristol, Creative Youth Network received assistance with groundwork, including weeding, pruning and grass cutting, alongside painting and decorating within its internal spaces.

Improving essential community spaces

In Edinburgh, volunteers supported River Kids, an organisation helping disadvantaged families, with the redesign of its warehouse. The work included dismantling and relocating lightweight racking and stock, as well as support with painting and installing doors.

In Carlisle, volunteers helped Carlisle Cerebral Palsy by repainting external benches and jet-washing its garden patio.

Supporting families and local green spaces

At Dane Valley Woods in Whitstable, volunteers supported several practical improvements. These included painting an external cabin, creating a new compost structure and raised timber bed, and completing meadow maintenance through mowing and raking.

Creating an impact beyond the week

Together, the activities delivered during Social Value Week helped to:

  • Improve green spaces
  • Revitalise community assets
  • Share practical skills and expertise
  • Build stronger local partnerships

Every task was different, but each contribution had the same purpose: helping local organisations create safer, stronger and more welcoming spaces for the people who rely on them.

For many of the charities and community groups involved, small practical improvements can make a meaningful difference. A refreshed room, a safer outdoor space or better organised facilities can help them continue delivering vital support long after the week itself has ended.

It is a clear example of Morris & Spottiswood Group social value in action, reflecting our commitment to working collectively as one expert team and creating environments in which people can thrive.

Thank you to every colleague, supply chain partner and community organisation that helped bring Social Value Week 2026 to life.
