HV Supply Extension and LV Distribution for Switchroom

Warburtons

As the largest bakers in the UK, Warburtons are a household name, and with consistently high demand for their products, excessive downtime is not an option for the busy bakers. We’ve worked with Warburtons for over 8 years, delivering over fifty projects at sites across the UK. So, when they needed HV work carried out at their Bristol Bakery to allow for the installation of business-critical new plant and equipment, they knew that they could count on us to deliver.

The job involved extending the high voltage supply and installing new low voltage distribution switchgear ahead of the new plant and equipment being delivered and installed. It was essential that our part of the job was completed on time so that the installation was not delayed. To ensure this was the case, we worked closely with Warburton’s central engineering projects team from day one to help streamline delivery and meet their business needs.

High Voltage • Supply and install on 1KV EPR insulated cable from the new ringmaster to the new transformer • Supply and install a 1000kva Merlin Gerin oil filled transformer • Supply and install extended emergency tripping facility to switch room • Pressure test and commissioning of HV installation • Isolation of wind turbine via specialist contractor • Energisation on completion of HV works • LV works including the supply and installation of a new GEC System 4 main LV switchboard

The job had an added layer of complexity due to the spear switch being occupied by a wind turbine. This meant that we had to supply and install a new HV switch to allow the extension of the HV distribution. Because any part of the plant being out of action cost our client money, we pre-planned practices to ensure that downtime and disruption were kept to a minimum.
